In May, Mercy For Animals put pressure on grocery chain ALDI with eye-catching demonstrations in the Chicago area and online actions. Our call for change comes after a Mercy For Animals undercover investigator documented countless birds suffering at an ALDI chicken supplier.
We also released a new video showing drone footage of pig farms.
Urging ALDI to Change

Mercy For Animals held several days of demonstrations in Illinois—the home of ALDI’s U.S. headquarters—to protest the treatment of chickens at a farm that supplies ALDI.

Mercy For Animals released a new drone video showing the shocking scale of industrial pig farms just before a McDonald’s shareholders meeting where attendees voted in a proxy fight with Carl Icahn over McDonald’s failure to phase out cruel gestation crates.
Helping Schools Serve More Plant-Based Meals
Brazil
Our food policy team in Brazil secured a new commitment with the Brazilian city of Sobral. Once fully implemented, this program will replace almost 1.5 million animal-based meals with plant-based ones each year. It will provide more than 30,000 students across over 100 schools access to plant-based meals. We are working on this initiative with Humane Society International.
We also completed another round of chef training in the city of Salvador, where we trained more than 100 school chefs in plant-based cooking.
