Superstar MFA supporter Ayden Kutay is inspiring her family and friends to make compassionate food choices and engage with MFA’s work in creative ways. Cindy
Harris, one of our philanthropy officers, recently caught up with Ayden to find out
why MFA’s work is so close to her heart.
Q – Tell us a little about yourself, where you grew up, and what you are passionate about.
A – I have always been passionate about animals. As a child I could never eat meat because I saw the slaughtering of my pet lamb when I was four years old.
Q – What part of MFA’s work is closest to your heart?
A – In 2013 I visited a dairy factory farm. What I saw there will haunt me forever. Bellowing of mother cows whose babies were taken from them still echoes in my ears. I used to eat cheese. I stopped eating cheese the day I visited the dairy farm.
I was so affected by what I saw at the dairy farm, I started searching for an organization that helps farmed animals and saw the MFA video Farm to Fridge on YouTube. I knew I’d found the right organization when I read about MFA’s undercover investigations.
When I told my children about the disturbing conditions farmed animals live in, they became vegans and MFA supporters. My daughter, who is a medical doctor, recently started a blog about health and spiritual benefits of living a vegan life. My son educates his friends about the suffering of farmed animals. He gave me the best birthday present last year: a donation to MFA in honor of my birthday.
Q – What change affecting farmed animals do you most want to see?
A – My hope is humans will evolve to a higher level of consciousness and will stop eating animals. I support MFA because it is at the forefront of making the evolutionary change in human consciousness.
Q – Which of MFA’s successes do you feel happiest about?
A – We cheer for MFA when food companies change their cruel practices towards farmed animals as a result of undercover investigations.
